Hot Box Yoga Boot Camp-is an intense full body work-out that will have you dripping sweat and shedding pounds! Each hour long class begins with a 10 minute warm up of dynamic stretching, followed by 25 minutes anaerobic cardio, 20 minutes abs/core, and a 5 minute cool down. *Additional 30 minute meditation on Saturday mornings.

My name is Eugene and I’m a 56 year old male. I’ve always been in reasonably good shape and I have made it a point to take medication only when I absolutely need it. When I was 40 years old, I exercised daily and weighed around 170 pounds. For whatever reason (decreased exercise, becoming increasingly sedentary, age, etc.), I managed to put on a couple of pounds each year and I saw my cholesterol and glucose blood test levels steadily increase. To make things worse, the “normal ranges” for these blood tests have changed over the past decade, making them more difficult to hit. Well, during my last yearly physical which was in May, my doctor told me (like he has done the past ten years) that I needed to lose weight and that my cholesterol and glucose levels were too high. But this year was different. He also told me that I needed to repeat my blood tests and if my results remained high, then we would need to talk about medication, which is usually a lifelong proposition. Bummer.
So instead of repeating the test right away, I decided to do something to get back into shape before I repeated the tests. June, July, and part of August went by with me putting off my “getting back into shape” plan. By chance, I ran into Chelsea Martin at Hot Box Yoga in the middle of August who told me about the next Yoga Boot Camp that was going to begin in a week. I saw this as my opportunity to begin getting back into shape, so I signed up. The boot camp workouts were rigorous and coupled with the meditation, the additional three regularly scheduled yoga classes per week, and the nutritional guidance, I dropped weight, I’m loose in my clothes, and most importantly, all of my blood test numbers have significantly improved (see table). In fact, with the exception of my fasting glucose test result, all of my blood test numbers are now in the normal range. I find this to be incredible and almost unbelievable.
